有很多人认为，抽象画不容易看得懂，因此很难去评判它的价值，也不想去接触这些另类的东西。在很长的一段时间里，抽象画在国内艺术品市场上并不受重视，因为很多人看不懂。第一眼看到张炀的油画时, 要读懂似乎也有些难度。张炀的绘画是用人和物与时间的观念所要表达出来的某一种思想,给人们以想象的空间。
张炀，1958年生。曲阜师范大学美术学院教授。1982年毕业于山东师范大学美术系。1987年至今在曲阜师范大学美术学院任教。1991-1993年在中央美院油画系第6届研修班学习。1992年以来在“北京东村”从事艺术创作。多次参加艺术批评家及策展人策划的当代艺术展，并在全国各地参加展览数次,。1997年以来任山东省美协及山东油画学会展览评委。张炀是以具有思想揭示力的油画而著名。
过去张炀的好多作品中人物看上去都有些智障，现在则更多的是知识型的类型化人物，但他的创作意图并非是在嘲笑智障人士，而是通过这些衣着光鲜的人物或知识型的形象揭示当今物质高度发达的社会中人思想上的缺失。人物手中所拿的甜心象征着物质的充裕，也是一种人们渴望生活的一种向往。张炀的作品中大多数是用人和物来表达一种思想，去做人类能在多大限度上自主命运的实验。张炀以其驳杂知识、恢宏想象，营构出合乎逻辑的超能力理论基础，在一个精彩的空间故事里去抒发自己的思想情怀，彼此交融而又不相干扰，但有好多画面不合乎逻辑。
对于艺术创作，张炀是站在当下的立场上，但又有意隐藏现实生活的背景。他常常讲：“我看重知识的系统性和艺术史的承裂关系，但又特别强调关照的角度。”当以今日的知识架构反观历史和传统时，张炀在常规的传统文脉中有了不少令人惊喜的发现，产生出奇异的陌生感，激活他创作的愿望和幻想。张炀喜欢把看似对立的如传统的与现代的、崇高的与世俗的因素混合起来，喜欢提升平凡事物的价值，甚至通俗杂志和电视新闻也可成为艺术创作的资源；让平凡的事物变的震撼，在静水无波之中显露出颠覆。
在《一波水上有数十雀飞一雀折足不飞》的艺术笔记中，张炀曾写道：“这不是现代科技与中国图式单纯的对接，2月8日电视中关于航天器及航天史中灾难事故的报道，使我明确了灾难和神秘的未知、不幸和不祥的事件，才是作品内涵的主题；田园诗般的美丽变成了悲凉与不安的景象，生活中的喜悦和不可避免的悲剧结合在一起”。张炀坚信：自己和中国知识分子一样，具有深切的人文关怀情结。把东方文化与西方文化，现在的经验与过去的经验打通了，通则成，这需要经验与智慧。
张炀的智慧则在于他找到了恰当的切入点，在当下画家普遍存在的浮躁状态中，张炀很沉稳，他的作品的价值也恰恰体现出来了，我相信张炀会在自己的艺术道路上坚定地走下去。

A lot of people think that the abstract paintings are not very easy to understand,so they are difficult to judge their value.Many people don’t want to get to know these particular stuff.In a very long time , the abstract paintings didn’t get much attention because they were difficult to be read.It was a little hard for me to understand Zhang yang’s oil painting when I saw it at the first time.Zhang yang’s oil painting is a kind of mind which expressed by the idea of human,ereature and the time.It shows the fanciful space to the people.
Zhang yang was born in 1958. He is the professor of the art college of Qufu Normal University.He gratuated from the Art department of Shandong Normal University in 1982 . He is teaching in the art college of Qufu Normal University from 1987 till now.He studied in oil painting department of Central Institute of Fine Arts from 1991 to 1993.HE enfafed in art creating in “East vallage in Beijing” from 1992 where appeared a lot of famous modern Chinese artists.He took part in Modern Art Exhibition which planed by the art critics and the exhibition’s planer for many times , and he attended the exhibition in the whole country for several times . He was the exhibition appraiser of Shandong Art Association and Shandong oil painting Association from 1997.Zhang yang is famous for his ability of revealing thinking in the oil painting.
In past,many characters in Zhang yang’s paintings looked a little stupid , while now they are more the typed people who are bookmen . His creative intention isn’t to laugh at the stupid , while to reveal the loss people’s mind in the highly industrialized society with the image of the well dressed people and the intellifentsias. The sweet heart in the character’s hand stands for the plenty of substance and a kinde of hope for life also.
The most of Zhang yang’s works reveal a kind of mind with the human and creature and do the exercise of control desting to the fullest extent .Zhang yang express his own feeling in a brilliant story based on his super theory which is rich , inmaginary and logical.They are combined together and not disturbed , and some of the paintings are not logical.
To the creation of art ,zhangyang stands on the modern time , while attempts to hide the back ground of modern life . He often says:”I pay much attention to cohe continued or split relation-ship between the knowlede’s system aticness and the art history. At the same time I secially emphasize the aspect of care.” Zhang yang finds a lot of suiprises in the normal tranditional principles when he looks at the history of art with modern knowledge. He finds some strange and curious factors which activates his willingness and fantacy of creating. Zhang yang likes to unit the different factors together which looks like dashed. The factors stand for trandition and modern time,loftiness and common customs and so on .He likes to elevate the value of common things.
