Carlos López Garrido was born in Logroño, Spain in 1968. He received a B.A. in Fine Arts from the Basque Country University. Carlos began displaying his work in 1993 and has participated in the following solo and group exhibitions: Logroño (Galería Pedro Torres, Caja Rioja Cultural Center, Caja Rioja Foundation, Logroño), Madrid (Galería Ángeles Penche, Galería Arlés), Bilbao (Galería Tavira), Pamplona (Galería Uno2Tres), Navacerrada (Galería Nolde), Avilés (Galería Octógono), Tudela, Lisbon (Museo Aveiro), Brussels (European Parliament), Oupeye/Dendermonde (galerie Pieter Pauwel), Liége( l´atelier d´emmanuelle), Brescia (Santa Giulia, museo della Cittá), Darmstadt ( Kommunale Galerie), Mérida (Assembly of Extremadura), Zaragoza ( Galeria Aragonesa del Arte), Beijing (798 Space,LAN CLUB,M.A. Studio), Shanghai (Expo 2010, Spain Pavilion) and in the following international art festivals: Santander (Feria ArteSantander), Marbella (Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo MAC 21), Valladolid ( Feria ARCALE ), Zaragoza ( Feria de arte ARTZ ),Madrid (ArtMadrid)
Carlos has received such prestigious awards as the Medal of Honor in the III National Painting Competition of the Parliament of La Rioja (2002-2006), Medal of Honor in the XVI BMW Painting Awards (2001), First Prize in the VIII National Ciudad de Tudela Painting Competition (2000), Honorable Mention in the I Parliament of La Rioja Painting Competition (1998/2007), First Prize in the I Wine and the Five Senses Painting Contest, Medal of Honor in the V National Ciudad de Tudela Painting Competition (1997), Finalist in the XIV Black and White Painting Awards, Madrid (1996), First Prize in Painting, Ciudad de Castellón (1995), First Prize in Painting, Young Plastic Arts Display, La Rioja (1993).
Carlos’ work can be found in a wide variety of public and private collections in Logroño (Town Hall, Parliament of La Rioja, Governmental Palace of La Rioja, Agricultural Council, Cultural Council, Historic Archives, Martínez Bujanda Winery, Diario La Rioja (daily newspaper), Regulatory Council for certifying products from La Rioja, Caja Rioja Foundation, Official College of Architects of La Rioja, Beatriz Arbelo Foundation), Haro Town Hall, Tudela (Town Hall, Vitorino-Gamen collection), Castellón (Town Hall), Madrid (AIAF collection, Torre Picasso, Espírito Santo Bank, Mapfre Foundation).
